Barren Illusion
"If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched." - Henry David Thoreau

I love yogurt
jueves, 24 de julio, 2008
So I tried making my own! It's really easy:

Gradually heat milk until it's boiling. Remove from heat and wait until the temperature drops to about 120°F/34°C (use a candy thermometer; I didn't have one so I used a meat thermometer :3). Take off the milk skin, then pour the warm milk in a jar with a few tablespoons of plain yogurt. I still had a layer of yogurt left at the bottom of the two-pound plastic tub I bought, so I just dumped my milk in that. Mix well, cover, then put it in an oven at about the same temperature (120°) or use an oven that has a pilot light. After six to seven hours, it's done. (A longer time will result in thicker yogurt.)

I'm sure there are many different recipes out there on the internet. I'm gonna try another next time, or maybe try straining it to get Greek yogurt aka labneh.

Who hates yogurt? I know some people do.

I loooove yogurt. My mom makes it on occasion using left over Greek yogurt. It always turns out really great.

That's cool. I don't think I'm going to try it, though. I don't hate yogurt, but I don't love it that much either. I've never heard of Greek yogurt. What's the difference?

I made ice cream twice for a science project once, but it wasn't as good as something that you get out of a carton.

I probably hate yogurt. Never actually tried it, but judging by the texture I don't think I'd find it pleasant.
